He was a Deputy Director of the Editorial Board of the Asahi Shimbun. He served as a member of the Advisory Panel of Experts on Nuclear Disarmament and Non-Proliferation for Japan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. He is Editor-in-Chief of Journal for Peace and Nuclear Disarmament (J-PAND). He has a PhD in International Public Policy from Osaka University (2007).

Kawai is a researcher with expertise in International Humanitarian Law. After serving as Director of the Soka Gakkai Peace Committee until October 2019, he worked as Research Fellow at the Toda Peace Institute before assuming his current position in April 2023. Kawai participated in the UN Conference to negotiate the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in July 2017 as a member of civil society while serving in the secretariat for the Japan NGO Network for Nuclear Weapons Abolition. He holds a Master of Arts in Political Science from Aoyama Gakuin University and PhD from Graduate School of Global Humanities and Social Sciences, Nagasaki University.

After graduating from the College of Asia Pacific Studies, Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Dr. Krasny earned his Master of Science (MSc.) from the Graduate School for International Development and Cooperation, Hiroshima University in 2014, and his PhD in 2022. In the same year, he attended the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights and obtained a Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in International Law in Armed Conflict. His fields of expertise include issues concerning International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and weapons of mass destruction. After serving as a Higher Executive Officer at the Security Department of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic focusing on WMD non-proliferation, and as a research associate at the Graduate School for International Development and Cooperation, Hiroshima University, he held a researcher position at the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) (Weapons of Mass Destruction Programme) until February 2025.

He specializes in arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation. Author of “Nuclear Transparency: Practices of US-USSR/Russia and NPT as well as their Potential Applicability to China” and co-author of “NPT: The Global Governance of Nuclear Weapons.” He has worked for many years in the field of arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation as a Special Advisor for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (Embassy of Japan in the United States, Arms Control and Disarmament Division, Delegation of Japan to the Conference on Disarmament, Non-Proliferation, Science and Nuclear Energy Division, etc.). He holds a M.A. in International Policy Studies with a certificate on nonproliferation from Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, and Ph.D. in Laws from Hitotsubashi University.

Born in 1951. Before joining RECNA, he was a Vice Chairman of Japan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) of the Cabinet office (2010-2014). He is also a Council Member of Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs (2007-09 and from 2014~). Dr. Suzuki has a PhD in nuclear engineering from Tokyo University (1988).

Director, Chief Editor and General Manager of News Division, NAGASAKISHIMBUNSHA. Born in Nagayo-cho, Nagasaki in 1965. He joined NAGASAKISHIMBUNSHA in 1998. He has covered a wide range of topics, including atomic bomb and peace reporting and the Kanemi oil disease case.

After graduating from the School of Law, Waseda University, Sekiyama worked at the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and then from April 2019 as an associate professor at the Graduate School of Advanced Integrated Studies in Human Survivability, Kyoto University, becoming a professor there in July 2024. His fields of expertise are international political economy, international environmental politics, and Asian-Pacific research (Japan, China, the US, India, etc.). He has a Master in International and Public Affairs from the Faculty of Social Sciences, the University of Hong Kong; a Master of Liberal Arts from the Harvard Kenneth C. Griffin Graduate School of Arts and Sciences ; a PhD in Law from the School of International Studies, Peking University; and a PhD in International Studies from Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, The University of Tokyo.

Starting in spring 2025, she will pursue a PhD at Nagasaki University. She graduated from Kwassui Junior and Senior High School and was involved in the Peace Studies Club. She holds a BA from International Christian University (ICU) and an MA in Nonproliferation from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. A former Japan Chair research intern at VCDNP, she is also a CTBTO Fellow and a UNODA Youth Leader Fund mentor.”

Born in Nagasaki City in 2000. Graduated from the Faculty of Education at Nagasaki University and currently enrolled in the Graduate School of Education at Nagasaki University. A member of the 11th and 12th Nagasaki Youth Delegation. Currently, as an alumna of the Nagasaki Youth Delegation and the third generation of atomic bomb survivors, she is dedicated to peace activism.

Mari Maeda(Anchor)was born and raised in Nagasaki. She belonged to a rocal TV station and interviewed Hibakusha. She has a M.A. in Information & Media Studies from University of Nagasaki (2020).
